For calibration of Conductivity
(EC), cF and TDS meters |
|
|
Regular calibration of conductivity meters is essential to
ensure accurate readings.
NOTE: Poorly
maintained
electrodes can upset the linearity of the readout values either side
of the Conductivity Standard’s value. Thus it is essential to clean the
electrode in Electrode Cleaner prior
to calibrating.
 |
Calibrates to 2.76mS / cm (cF 27.6) at 25 Deg
C / 77 Deg F.
|
 |
Based on international (APHA) standard formula.
Contains potassium chloride.
|
 |
Highly
stable formulation that resists the growth of algae, fungus, etc.
'Growths' can contaminate electrodes and cause interference that
'distorts' electrode calibration.

Conductivity
readings are not always useful !
Conductivity (cF, mS) or TDS measurements are used to gauge the total
concentration of all salts (i.e. both beneficial and toxic) present in the
nutrient solution. They cannot provide any detail on the concentrations of
'individual' nutrients. Therefore, since a ‘satisfactory’ reading does
not imply a balanced nutrient mixture or provide any information on
the level of nuisance salts, it is wise to dump every 7-14 days. This is
particularly necessary when using salty make-up water because such water
causes nuisance chemicals to build up rapidly to toxic levels. |
